Tilly's Happy Tail
Don and Lisa were heartbroken after losing their beloved Jack Russell Terrier, Chance in January 2013. They looked for the right canine companion and were so happy to find Tilly through Barktown Rescue. Tilly joined the Wilson family in August 2013. Since then she has become spoiled rotten. She goes to doggie daycare once a week to have play dates. She loves to ride in the car and even has her own dog seat. The Wilson family is complete with Tilly and Miss Tilly is a cherished member of their family. We are so thrilled to see she is doing so well in her forever home and are grateful to the Wilson family for opening their heart and home to a rescue dog.

If you have adopted a Barktown dog and would like to see your pet featured in a Happy Tail, email your story and some pictures to info@barktownrescue.org.

Peyton's Happy Tails
Peyton was adopted from Barktown Rescue in March of 2013. We were looking for a kid friendly pet as we had 5 and 6 year old children. We looked online for about a month before spotting Peyton online and knew we had to have him. When we first met him, he jumped right into our arms and we knew he would be the best fit for our family. We surprised our two children and they have had the best time playing with him and becoming his new friends! Peyton loves to ride in the car, chew on bones (as well as hide them), sit outside in the front yard and bark as all other dogs go by and play with all of the neighborhood children. We could not ask for a better dog and am very thankful that we found him through your rescue center!

Chester's Happy Tail
We adopted Kringle (kna Chester) from Barktown in January 2014, and he has been the perfect addition to our family. I can see why his foster mommy called him Kringle because watching him explore and adapt and learn to trust people is like Christmas morning every single day! He loves to nap on the couch with us or play in the yard with his human brothers. It is so awesome to see how far he has comeā€¦ from a lonely stray in the woods to a beloved member of our family. Thank you Barktown for giving our boy a second chance at life!

Peaches' Happy Tails
We adopted Peaches a little over three months ago and love her dearly. She is more or less my dog in that she follows me everywhere I go. When I leave in the car, she waits at the back door until I return. She does like to cuddle on our laps but does hate to be picked up. She has a Yorkie friend, Lucy, who comes to play a couple of times most weeks and the two of them are a delight to watch!! John and Bernadine Whisler

Ruby's Happy Tails
Kate Jacques & I adopted Ruby aka Neveah last year & she is a year old now. I thought you might like to see some photos of her. She is a fantastic puppy. A big girl close to 70 lbs all muscle from playing out in the country. Very smart. All you have to do is show her what you want & she will do it & remember it. All the animals adore her. Even Frank, umbrella cockatoo, who usually chases any animal near his cage. He directly shares his treats with her. Her best buddy is our big neutered cat Indy. They have played together like a pair of puppies since we brought her home. With the weather getting nicer she spends a lot of time outside with Jack, neutered 7 yr old basset x husky, ( yes he is a sight to behold ) chewing on things best not described & soaking up the sun.

Happy Tails
Hi! I got Roman (formerly known as Otis) from you guys almost a year ago. He is doing great. He is a blessing to my whole family. We adore him. He loves us too and has grown up to be big and strong. He loves the snow because it is like treats are falling from the sky :) He also loves going to the dog park and playing with his friends. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to have our Roman. :)Rachel

Starla
Starla the beagle had a rough start in life. At just 4 months old, she was dumped at the shelter and her time was almost up when Barktown Rescue picked her. We took pictures at the shelter that day and that picture was what made her owner fall in love with her! She was only with her foster parents for a week before she went into a loving home with plenty of snuggling!

BARKTOWN MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM
We have some very exciting news to announce! In the last 30 days we have rescued 42 dogs and puppies!!! Twelve of our rescues came from yard sale pages where they were being advertised to go to just anyone unvaccinated and without a spay or neuter. All of them like the little cuties pictured below will be placed into carefully screened homes ONLY after vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Seventeen of our 42 rescues came from three different shelters where they all faced euthanasia. Thirteen of our 42 rescues came from owners who surrendered them to us to keep them from going to a kill shelter. We are very proud of these MANY lives saved in a VERY short time. We work extremely hard every single day to save as many as we can. We need your help to continue this work of rescue. The vet cost for 42 dogs is $4,620 and our electric bill for our building was $1,200 last month. We need sponsors to help with our growing overhead cost. We are launching a new Barktown Membership Program. To become a member you donate either $10, $15 or $20 per month. In exchange you will receive 10 percent, 15 percent or 20 percent off boarding and grooming discount once per month. Members will also be recognized on our facebook page and receive a monthly email notification with pictures of the dogs and cats they have helped us save that month. Just click on the donate button to start your Barktown Membership. We need your help now to save more! Just be sure that you click monthly donation to make it a recurring payment. All donations are tax deductible.
